bad bind variable error in oracle forms 10g

sir i want insert an image into oracle database through oracle forms 10g as front end by insert statement and after inserting that image into database retrieving that image into oracle forms
through a select statement.

don't give me block level coding i know block level , i want it through coding.

when i am writing select/insert statement in forms then it is showing error in this line
(:block_name.image_itemname).

select image_name into :block_name.image_itemname from scott.myimage where image_id=1;

can any body help me to do this please give me the source code because i am new to oracle forms.
