you can take RMAN full backup one day a week and incremental level 1 one day a week and rest of days level 2 backups. this will reduce backup time see my article on dbapool.com http://www.dbapool.com/articles/0711200701.html

Hi Naser, It is always safe to take full backup. But it depends upon your backup strategy.If your database is very big, it is not possible to take full backup everyday. You can go for weekly twice or thrice full database backup and rest of the days…
