Oracle Database 11g PL/SQL New Features

Last month I presented the Oracle Database 11g PL/SQL New Features at the Utah Oracle User’s Group (UTOUG) Training Days. You can find the slides here. My favorite new feature is that you no longer have to select a sequence into a variable to use it in a SQL statement in a PL/SQL block.

Autotrace command

In last entry on my personal blog I talked about the possibility of optimizing our querys with autotrace command. Autotrace offers statement tracing and instant feedback on any successful SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE statement. it requires the plustrace or DBA role for the user executing the trace.

Oracle 11g New Feature: Automatic memory management

Memory management in Oracle 11g is much easier now. After introducing Automatic SGA management in 10g, Oracle has introduced "Automatic Memory Management" in 11g; Now only a single parameter is required to set the memory for the database.Read about automatic memory management in detail on my blog.
