Database hangs when one of two log archive destinations fails

Here is our situation:



We have 10.2.0.3 Enterprise edition on HP Unix. Archive logging is enabled and active. One of our databases hung the other day because one of the two log archive destinations had a problem. I did restart the database successfully after changing the location. The question is, why did the database hang when there was another working log archive destination?

SQL*Plus from a Windows command window and shortcuts

Using SQL*Plus means using a command window on Windows, and that leads to customization. With Windows, i can customize a hotkey, the colors, the size, and the history kept in the window. So with a bit of playing around, i settled on the following configuration.
