Oracle DBA in a hypergrowth OLTP Production Environment (Ning)

Overview
The Operations team at Ning is responsible for rapidly scaling a system composed of thousands of moving parts at exponentially increasing levels of traffic. Our team is strategically building and evolving management systems for a heterogeneous infrastructure that includes Solaris, Linux, and some Windows servers. We are currently tasked with creating deployment and management systems for our high availability, high growth infrastructure as well as developing precise early warning monitoring technologies that dynamically track anomalous behavior.


Responsibilities
Deliver evolving database solutions for a rapid growth 24X7 production internet service.
Identify and develop solutions to complex scalability and bottleneck issues.
Manage replication, failover and recovery for the database infrastructure.
Implement performance and availability monitoring and metrics.
Participate in an on-call rotation in support of the production database.



Qualifications
3-8 years experience with Oracle databases in mission critical 24X7 OLTP production environments.
Demonstrated expertise with Oracle RAC and ASM.
Expert level experience with Oracle 10g databases administration and architecture.
Advanced knowledge of data replication and failover principles.
Strong PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and triggers experience.
High degree of comfort with the Oracle command line.
Experience implementing and following database and schema change controls.
MS or BS degree in computer science or related field preferred.
